Enough is Enough!!

NHS staff are tired of working without enough colleagues at their side. So UNISON members are taking action.

Every report, review and inquiry says the same: we don’t have enough staff, with enough time to provide our patients with the care they need. Politicians make promises but nothing seems to change. You’re left picking up the slack while no-one holds your organisation to account.

That’s why UNISON is saying Enough is Enough! We are running a Branch led campaign which will give our nursing family members the opportunity to hold NHS employers to account and to tackle unsafe staffing levels. Unsafe staffing means key clinical tasks aren’t done, causing harm to patients. It contributes to burnout and affects the morale of everyone in the team.

Healthcare providers are accountable by law for providing safe care. But too often they’re able to turn a blind eye to the challenges you face providing care every day. It’s important you are able to speak up with confidence and report unsafe staffing levels at work.

This October and November, UNISON branches across the country will be running local shift surveys to record real staffing levels and collecting data that can’t be ignored.

If you are a registered nurse or midwife and work at Manchester Royal Infirmary, we will be asking you to take part in our campaign and complete the UNISON survey after every shift. This will provide data on staffing that those responsible can’t ignore. We understand this is a big ask from you, however, providing hard data is the only way we can get employers to listen. So please, use this ink to complete the survey and help us make a difference http://unison.org.uk/only-enough-is-enough
