Winter Hill Trespass – 125th Anniversary

This year Bolton celebrates the 125th anniversary of Britain’s biggest ever rights of way dispute, Bolton’s Battle for Winter Hill in 1896. It was a battle between local mill and factory workers against a wealthy conservative landowner that involved many thousands of local people.  It’s thanks to the research of Bolton Historian, Paul Salveson and his book, Will Yo’ Come O’ Sunday Mornin’?  published in the early 1980s, that this chapter of our town’s working class history has not been completely forgotten. Bolton UNISON has played an active part in supporting this event. 

There will be a commemorative walk to mark the event and all Unison members are welcome to join. Details are:
