Fitness to Practice – Explained

Ever wonder what The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) fitness to practice proceedings mean and involve? Join us for a joint webinar along with the NMC, UNISON, RCM, RCN & Unite. Register for the event HERE

We know that many of you have questions about the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (NMC) fitness to practice process. 50% of registrants in regulatory proceedings are unrepresented and they receive worse outcomes than those who are represented so this is a great opportunity to better understand the process and find out what help and support you can receive as a UNISON member.

This event can count towards your evidence of continuous professional development.

Who should attend:

Every nurse, midwife or nursing associate will gain from joining this session. Students are also very welcome.

Why should you attend:

We know that if you are referred to the NMC, you may be worried, frightened and concerned. This session is designed to give you clear, practical information about what the fitness to practice process involves, how it works in practice, and the support available to you from the NMC care line and the unions.

What will I take away from it?

  • Clear and practical information on what to do if you are ever referred to the NMC
  • A better understanding of what the fitness to practice process involves
  • Detail on how early engagement can have a positive impact on your case
  • A summary of what you can provide to your unions so your case can be dealt with more quickly
  • Information about the NMC care line
  • Clarity on what help and support you can receive from your union or professional organisation.

There will also be a panel to respond to your questions which you can submit during the session.
