Remember the dead – fight for the living

The 28th April each year marks International Workers Memorial Day where globally we recognise and commemorate those who have died as a result of injury, accidents or illness at work.

The past few years have made this day more poignant than ever to those working in the NHS and associated health care settings as they – YOU, our members – have been at the forefront of the fight against Covid 19. Tragically some of those healthcare workers paid the ultimate price for their dedication.

There will be a Manchester Workers Memorial event on 28th April, meeting at the Abraham Lincoln Statue, Lincoln Square M2 5LF at 11.45am. There will be live music from Claire Mooney, speakers from trade union and labour movement, reading of names and laying of wreaths followed by refreshments and reflection at the Peoples History Museum.

If you cannot attend this event in Manchester, please consider taking a minutes silences in your workplace with your colleagues at some point during that day to remember those who have lost their lives just going about their work.
